Frequently asked questions
What is RSVP reading?
RSVP stands for Rapid Serial Visual Presentation. Instead of moving your eyes across lines of text, words appear one at a time in the same spot. This removes the back-and-forth eye movements (saccades) that can make reading tiring, and helps you read faster — especially for people with dyslexia.
What is the red letter in each word?
It's the focus point — the spot in a word your eye recognizes fastest. Onword marks it in red and keeps it in the same position so your gaze stays anchored and steady as words flow past.
How do I add my own reading to Onword?
Open the Import sheet to paste a link, paste text directly, or pick a .txt, Markdown, PDF, or EPUB file. You can also share a link or selected text from any other app straight into Onword.
Can I change the reading speed and fonts?
Yes. In Settings you can adjust your reading speed in words per minute, choose between the Lexend, Atkinson Hyperlegible, and OpenDyslexic typefaces, switch reader styles, and pick the highlight and paper colors that suit you best.
Does Onword need an internet connection?
No. Onword works fully offline. The only time it goes online is when you import an article from a web link — and even then it talks directly to that website, never to us. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Is Onword a subscription?
No. Onword is one simple purchase with no subscriptions and no ads. Your library, settings, and progress stay on your device, and we collect nothing — read the full Privacy Policy.
